An Empowering Weekend in the Catskills

The Riley’s Way Youth Leadership Retreat was incredibly inspiring. The ability to learn from and converse with young girls from across the nation who all share a dedication to bettering their communities was enlightening. Not only did we discuss important skills that are necessary for kind leadership, but we also had so much fun! We had the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful landscape and participate in many different camp activities. Some of the best parts of the retreat, however, were the teen-led workshops. I attended one from a member of Purple America by the name of Eman, which is a completely online initiative where students can take part in nationwide political discussions every month. I found it so empowering to see young women promoting political involvement! I also went to a workshop about We Dine Together facilitated by Shaylee and Wynter, which is a club that ensures no students eat alone. It was amazing to see the passion towards kindness during this retreat, and I am so grateful to have been able to attend!
