Today we visited the Cigar Family Complex. It was humbling to watch the childrens’ faces as they received the items we brought for them. Seeing their happiness shine from simple items, such as notebooks, crayons, markers, toothbrushes, shampoos, etc. has made me realize how fortunate I am. I take for granted every day the fact that I have a roof over my head, a hot shower every day, every hygiene product necessary, and all my school supplies. However, despite the childrens’ lack of material items, they all have an endless amount of liveliness and eagerness. They love their school and learning. They are passionate about their education and sports, just like we are in the United States. So, even though we are different in many aspects of culture and lifestyles, fundamentally we are all still human beings together in this world.
