The Hardest Goodbyes Mean the Most Today we continued to lay concrete and add flooring to other homes. Luckily, we were able to finish the homes before the rain washed us away. Saying good bye to all of the friends we made along the way was definitely hard. I’m glad it was hard to do, because it makes me want to come back that much more. I really connected to the school and its students in the few days we were here. As our work ended, I translated a conversation between Ryan and the owner of one of the homes we worked on. Holding back the tears was more challenging that any manual labor we’ve done on the entire trip. I feel so bad for these people who fight to survive and I just want to bring them to my home and have them stay with me. I feel like I have in no way done enough to help them, yet they are so thankful, and it breaks my heart.
