The Last Day of Our Journey Today we poured cement into two more homes and got to know the neighbors better. We ended our day handing our the rest of the donations and gifts to the kids, workers and neighbors and the whole time everyone was smiling and wishing they had more to give. Today was bittersweet. Sweet in that we got to further help these families and also Irene tumbling down a hill. It was also bitter because we had to say goodbye to all of our new friends we had made over the past few days. I met a lot of amazing people, especially Emilio, and I made many great connections. This trip was a real eye-opening experience for me. I saw the conditions in which human beings were living in and it was disheartening. I wish I could have stayed for longer than a few days to help these people but I’m glad I was given the opportunity to changes people’s lives. I will take away many things from this trip, an important one is that even the small things in your life can make huge difference to another life. I will also take away an empty feeling made because of the amount of help still needed by people all over the world but I will try to fill it by both helping out more in my community and searching for more opportunities to travel around the world to help people who truly need it.
