The Power of Giving
Ryan Nece launched the Power of Giving campaign on June 9, 2009 to encourage individuals to make a powerful impact on their community. Ryan provided approximately 55 Tampa Bay leaders and philanthropists with $55 each and challenged them to use that money to have a positive effect on someone in need. Since that date, the Power of Giving has spread across the country as people discovered the ripple effect that giving can create.
The Power of Giving was created out of the belief that we can’t rely on charities and non-profit organizations to make a difference in the community…it takes individuals as well. If we all want to see a more positive society, then we must each take advantage of the opportunities we have to do good by giving of our time, treasures or talents. The Power of Giving works to spread the message that the smallest act of giving can have the largest impact in someone’s life.
If not you, then who?
Inspired by Ryan Nece’s Power of Giving challenge in 2009, Wheels of Success took one of the original $55 donations from that night in June and turned it into more than $15,000 in cash and vehicle donations through their $55 Saves Lives campaign. The campaign helped get 20 families on the road at their annual Labor Day event that year. Naturally, the Ryan Nece Foundation and Wheels of Success decided to partner together for this program in 2010.
On Monday, September 6, 2010, the Ryan Nece Foundation and Wheels of Success helped 55 families get on the road by providing them with either keys to a “new to them” vehicle or repairs to a vehicle they already own at the 5th Annual “Working Wheels Keep Families Working” Labor Day Event.
Founded in 2003, Wheels of Success is Tampa Bay’s only 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing a full range of transportation solutions, including vehicle replacement and car repairs, as well as licensing, car payment and down payment assistance.
