Reflecting on the First SSP Meeting by Kameo James

The evening started off with a nice dinner and time to catch up. We discussed leadership and important quotes from our summer reading, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Qaz’Din and I decided that to be a leader is to take the initiative to do something for the better of a group without greed and involving others in this success. We also figured out ways to redefine the labels society gives us such as age, religion, race, etc.

I found that the particular quote, “unfold your own myth,” really inspired the group and myself to break out of our boundaries and predetermined expectations. Later in the evening, an inspirational speaker, Mrs. Jen Carlstedt, came in to give us the Myers Briggs personality test. We each discovered the distinctive parts of ourselves as well as the strengths and weaknesses of our own identity. The entire session was extremely beneficial and fun as well. Thanks for the experience!
