Recently, we have been catching up with our Student Service Program (SSP) alumni.

The goal of the Student Service Program is to help shape and mentor the next generation of servant leaders in our community. Through the program’s leadership curriculum and service projects, it is our hope to ignite a spark in the students so they experience a renewed sense of purpose that will reflect in the service work they continue throughout Tampa Bay and beyond.

In today’s “Where Are They Now?” series, we hear from Kyle Hamilton.

Update us! What has been going on with you since you went through the Student Service Program (SSP)

I just finished my first year at the University of Florida, and I loved every second of it. I am currently double-majoring in Public Health and Women’s Studies, on the pre-law track. I have also been heavily involved on campus as a member of the Florida Cicerones as well as a Programming Director for the Freshman Leadership Council.

How would you say the SSP influenced your life?

The Student Service Program (SSP) provided me with a network that completely changed my life. There is not a day that goes by that I am not chatting with someone from my class. I was fortunate enough to find some of my best friends from high school through this very program.

What have you learned from SSP that you continue to use on a regular basis?

Upon going through the program, I was instilled with a set of communication skills that I continue to use daily. Sharpening my interpersonal skills was absolutely essential to my success in college.

What is your favorite memory from SSP?

The trip to the Panhandle was the best!

Anything you would like to tell future SSP members?

Do not be afraid to reach out to other people in your class, you just might find your closest friends!

Final thoughts?

Truly enjoy every opportunity that you’re presented within this organization. Some of my fondest memories before college were with friends from this program.
